My brother Daru Jones put out a project titled “Spirit & Soul-Hop Sampler 09″ at the end of last year that has some dope joints on it. My favorite record on the album is tilted “The Edge” featuring Aischa (who me and Daru met on our European tour with Black Milk last summer) and Coultrain who is a dope singer/songwriter out of St. Louis.
Enjoy!

“Why can’t it be anything worth having you work at annually” (c) Common
This quotable is from Common’s “Like Water For Chocolate” LP which happens to be my favorite Common album. I’ve been living by this quote since I heard it! It can be applied to any goal you are trying to reach from relationships to career goals. As a Student of My Dream I continuously strive to be the best all around artist that I can possibly be.
Much like WISDOM . . . . “Student of My Dream” is FREE.
I still have several videos and pictures to share from the tour but I have to put that on hold for the day.
Saturday morning started off crazy as I received a phone call from my man 2wo asking me if it was true that Baatin of hip hop group Slum Village had passed away. I was half awake but confused cause I was sure his statement had to be a rumor. I told him I would call him back. I looked at my cell phone and saw I had two missed calls from DJ Dez (Slum village’s DJ) and I began to have doubts. I called Dez to find out that it wasn’t a rumor and Baatin was gone.
It’s crazy because I just did a show with Slum Village in late March at University of Michigan with Common and it was a special show cause they had just brought Baatin back on as a member of the crew. I remember this night so vividly because Kareem Riggins was there and Common, T3, Baatin, and Kareem performed “Thelonius” off of Common’s “Like Water For Chocolate” Album and Kareem performed Dilla’s verse. It was insane. I saw Baatin for the last time in L.A. where I was suppose to do a set with Black Milk and Slum was suppose to perform as well. Unfortunately that didn’t happen do to a wack promoter not paying all of the acts! I can careless what people have to say about Baatin and what he did off the mic but on the mic this guy had more talent then most. He could sing, rhyme, and had one of the craziest voices ever. He could switch up his style in the middle of a verse and imitate anyone. I was definitely inspired by this guy and he has quotes for days. Almost every time I spoke to Baatin he was cool and receptive to me being apart of the crew. I was glad when I heard him on the new records that will be released on Slum Villages new album. I talked to T3 last Thursday and he was telling me how everything was finally coming together with the album and Dwele had just shot the video last week for Slum that was pretty much Baatin’s song which has a small verse from T3. He said they were looking forward to meeting up with me in Cali this weekend at Rock The Bells. It saddens me that Baatin won’t be making that trip with them. It is unfortunate how death can teach us to enjoy life and put the petty things to the side. I hate that I was reminded this way.
R.I.P. Titus “Baatin” Glover.
“Baatin is the one whose in the tree of life,
hold tight, don’t ever give up in the fight
grace can only come into the sight.
Soul power it ignites like the sun
SV dominates the industry for fun!”
